Arc Flash Awareness for Electricians
Understand arc-flash hazards, risk categories and the protective measures every electrician needs on site.
Course Overview
Arc Flash Awareness for Electricians is an online, self-paced safety course that explains what an arc flash is. An arc flash is a sudden release of energy when an electrical fault arcs through the air, producing intense heat, light and a pressure blast that can cause severe burns even at a distance. You will learn to recognise the hazard, the risks of working on or near energised equipment, the basics of arc-flash calculation and equipment labelling, and how arc-rated PPE (arc-rated clothing, a face shield or hood, insulating gloves and hearing protection) is selected from the risk assessment. For electricians, electrical workers and supervisors responsible for electrical safety, this introductory awareness course runs about two hours and finishes with a short knowledge assessment, a certificate of completion and CPD points.
