Fall Arrest Systems
Select, inspect and correctly use fall-arrest systems when working at height.
Course Overview
Fall Arrest Systems is an online, self-paced awareness and refresher course for electricians and trades who work at heights. A fall-arrest system is the personal protective equipment (full-body harness, lanyard, energy absorber and rated anchorage) that stops a worker after a fall has begun, the last line of defence used when a fall cannot be prevented. The course covers how these systems work, when they are required, and how to select, fit, inspect and use the components, along with anchor points and rated anchorages, free-fall and clearance distances, suspension trauma, pre-use inspection, the Safe Work Australia hierarchy of controls, and the difference between fall restraint and fall arrest. The single module takes about one hour and finishes with a knowledge assessment and a certificate of completion, and counts toward CPD.
Related working at heights training: Prevention sits higher than arrest in the control hierarchy, so for prevention see Fall Prevention Systems, and for ladder work see Ladder Safety. For an overview of all our courses, visit Working at Heights Training.
