Course Overview

This online, self-paced course explains how to identify and classify the different types of patient areas found in medical and dental facilities. Over about one hour, you will learn to recognise body-protected and cardiac-protected electrical areas, based on how patients may be connected to electromedical equipment, and understand why correctly identifying each area is the first step to applying the right electrical safety requirements under AS/NZS 3003. It is written for electricians and facility staff working in healthcare settings, at an introductory awareness level. The single module finishes with a knowledge assessment, and you receive a certificate of completion that counts toward CPD. The practical value is a clear, consistent basis for classifying patient areas correctly before electrical safety work is carried out.
