Manual Handling in Construction
Reduce injury risk with sound manual-handling technique and hazard assessment.
Course Overview
Manual Handling in Construction is an online, self-paced safety awareness course covering the manual tasks (lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, carrying and holding loads) that are a leading cause of musculoskeletal injuries on construction sites. It is designed for construction and electrical workers who lift, carry or move materials and equipment on site. You will learn safe techniques to apply straight away, including planning the lift, keeping the load close to the body, bending at the knees rather than the back, avoiding twisting, and using mechanical aids or team lifts for heavy or awkward items. Set at an introductory awareness level, the course runs for about one hour as a single module and finishes with a knowledge assessment and a certificate of completion. It also counts toward CPD.
