Course Overview
Fall Prevention Systems is an online, self-paced awareness and refresher course for the electrical, communications and construction trades. Fall prevention means stopping a fall before it can happen, using guardrails, edge protection, covers, work platforms and travel-restraint systems, rather than arresting a fall after it starts. It sits higher in the hierarchy of controls than fall arrest, which makes it the preferred approach on any job at height.
The hierarchy of fall control
Australian WHS practice requires fall risk to be managed at the highest practical level: first eliminate the need to work at height, then use passive prevention such as guardrails and platforms, then work-positioning and travel restraint, and only then fall arrest, with administrative controls supporting each layer. This course focuses on the prevention layers, where good planning removes the risk at its source.

- Travel restraint: keeping workers physically unable to reach a fall edge, and how it differs from fall arrest
